Cody is a 9 years-young sweetheart who is looking for a special person to call his own.
Cody is a loving, sensitive boy who wants nothing more than to be by your side. He has clearly been through some difficult experiences, and he is learning that he is safe, loved, and no longer has to worry about being hurt. With patience, kindness, and reassurance, Cody continues to make wonderful progress.
This sweet boy loves being close to his people and will happily keep you company while you work, relax, or go about your day. He may occasionally jump up to ask for attention, but he is learning that he doesn’t need to worry because his people will always make time for him.
Cody isn’t particularly interested in toys or playing with other dogs just yet, but with time and gentle encouragement, he may discover these joys. He enjoys treats and food, which are great motivators for positive training. He is crate trained and house trained and walks very well. He would be fine with dogs, dog savvy cats and respectful children 6+
Cody’s ideal home is:
Cody would thrive with a loving person or family who enjoys having a devoted companion close by. He would love a home with a securely fenced yard or safe outdoor space, and a family where someone is home for a good part of the day. Apartment living may be possible, depending on the building rules and how long he would be left alone.
Cody needs a patient home that understands sensitive dogs and will help him build confidence at his own pace. A calm, gentle approach and positive reinforcement will help him continue to blossom.
If you’re looking for a loyal best buddy who will treasure your company and give you all the love in his heart, Cody could be your perfect match.
Cody doesn’t ask for much — just love, patience, and someone who will show him that he matters. Could you be his person?

FAQ

What is the process to adopt?

First, you’ll fill out an adoption application so we can get to know you, your family, and what you’re looking for in a dog. If it looks like a good fit, we’ll arrange a meet-and-greet. From there, if everyone feels it’s the right match, we’ll move ahead with an adoption agreement and fee. We’re here to support you through the whole process.

How much does it cost to adopt?

Our adoption fees usually range from $450 to 600, depending on the dog’s age and needs. This helps cover things like vaccinations, spay/neuter, vet care, rehabilitation, and travel costs to Canada.

What if the dog I adopt doesn’t work out?

We always want our dogs and adopters to be happy together. If you’re unsure, fostering first can be a great way to see if the dog is the right fit for your home. We truly believe dogs are family for life, but if something serious comes up, we will always take our dogs back into the rescue.

Why do you bring dogs from Playa del Carmen, Mexico? Aren’t there enough homeless dogs in Canada?

Although we do rescue dogs in Canada, we also partner with our sister rescue, SOS El Arca, in Playa del Carmen, where the need is heartbreaking.
Dogs there often live on the streets, without food, shelter, or medical care, and many suffer from abuse or neglect.
In Canada, most shelter dogs at least have safety, food, and a roof over their heads. By working together, we’re able to give these dogs a chance at life while also helping locally when we can.

Other ways to help?

Adoption isn’t the only way to change a dog’s life. You can help by:

-Fostering a dog and giving them a safe place to land.
-Donating to help cover medical care, food, and transport.
-Sponsoring a dog in need if you can’t foster or adopt.
- Offering transportation to and from their locations.
-Volunteering your time and skills, from event support to home checks.
-Sharing our posts and stories on social media to help dogs find their forever homes.

Every little bit makes a huge difference, and we’re so grateful for our amazing community of supporters. ❤️
